Memorials, remembering the trauma without excluding

Fourth episode of our special for Il Giornale dell'Architettura, on architecture and inclusiveness with an in-depth analysis curated by Anna Bernardi on the theme of inclusiveness in memorials and how architecture can promote a collective memory accessible to all. The article discusses the Place of memory and information on euthanasia victims in Berlin, designed to ensure full and independent access also for people with disabilities. Anna Bernardi studied atUSI Academy of Architecture of the University of Italian Switzerland, Mendrisio, where she obtained his PhD. She currently carries out teaching and research activities at theInstitute of History and Theory of Art and Architecture (ISA) of the same Academy. She is the author of “Architecture and the Politics of Memory. Louis I. Kahn and Peter Zumthor: Two Unrealized Projects” (Mendrisio Academy Press, 2023), volume awarded the Emilia Zinzi Award for the history of art 2023.
