Studio Bettini Architetti Associati is pleased to announce that architect Sergio Bettini has been selected as a member of the international jury for MIRC 2026 – Guastalla Historical Centre. Public Spaces and the Cross, the international ideas competition sponsored by the Mantua Campus of the Polytechnic University of Milan and the Municipality of Guastalla. The initiative is open to students, recent graduates, and professionals under 35 in the fields of architecture, landscape, urban planning, design, and engineering.

The competition invites participants to develop a new interpretation of Piazza Mazzini and the so-called Croce del Volterra, two symbolic sites in the historic center of Guastalla. The goal is to promote proposals that combine the preservation of historical heritage, quality of public space, environmental sustainability, and accessibility, helping to strengthen the city's urban identity and contemporary enjoyment.

The projects will be evaluated anonymously by an international jury composed of scholars and professionals with expertise in urban and architectural design, architectural history, and accessibility. The inclusion of architect Sergio Bettini on the panel recognizes the firm's experience in historic heritage projects, public space regeneration, and universal accessibility applied to protected contexts.

The Studio considers participation in initiatives of this kind an integral part of its research and international engagement, in the belief that dialogue between universities, the profession, and young designers represents a fundamental tool for promoting a design culture that is attentive to the quality of places, historical memory, and the needs of contemporary society.

The call for applications is open until September 15, 2026, while submissions are due by October 7, 2026. All information is available on the competition's official website.
