Filling the Gap: The Fabric Vaults of the Ducal Palace of Guastalla

Our proposal for completing the restoration of the ducal apartment is online on Office Observer.

This contribution presents a yet-to-be-realized design proposal, conceived to restore the spatial perception of the lost historic vaults without resorting to camouflage reconstructions. The project envisions lightweight, suspended technical fabric structures, reversible and independent of the historic walls.

A reflection on the theme of the gap as a design opportunity and a tool for critically reading historical architecture.
The project transforms absence into a device for interpreting historical space.
