Ponte Giulio, the art of listening and inclusive worlds
In our special on "Architecture and inclusiveness" on Il Il Giornale dell'Architettura, the seventh contribution is an interview by Ubaldo Spina with Edoardo Carloni, member of the Board of Directors and marketing manager of Ponte Giulio, an Umbrian company that designs bathroom furnishings with a rare balance between safety, efficiency and aesthetics. The interview starts with a reflection inspired by the book by Marianella Sclavi, “The Art of Listening and Possible Worlds”: too often our way of thinking is limited by rigid “frames”, while inclusion requires expanding our gaze. Carloni underlines a fundamental concept: well-being can only come from a climate of safety. How can I enjoy the moment and the environment that surrounds me if I don’t feel safe? From this awareness comes the Ponte Giulio method, based on an in-depth analysis of needs and critical issues to develop solutions that guarantee maximum functionality without sacrificing furnishings. An approach that transforms the company into a real laboratory, where each project is approached in a tailored manner. Ponte Giulio demonstrates that an accessible bathroom does not have to be “hospital-like”, but can combine safety, comfort and elegance. A theme that is linked to the previous contributions of the special and that we will continue to explore in the next articles.
